Cecil Thomas: Property Tax Rollback

The latest property tax rollback would yield a saving of $1.39. This amount is meaningless, however, to most its not the amount, its the principal behind it. Citizens continue to ask, and rightfully so, why do we have to close our pools, recreation centers, health and senior centers? Where are the tax dollars going? If the rollback doesn't occur the city will have and additional $200,000+. I would like to see those dollars earmarked for a specific cause such as keeping our Senior Centers, Recreations Centers or pools open. I will then have a clear knowledge of how my $1.39 was spent and we would no longer have to ask the private sector for help.
