Monzel's Response - Litter in our City

Q. Do you plan to engage the voters in the process of clearing litter? This involves appealing to their pride, not just doing for them. (Dorothy Weil, East Walnut Hills)

A. Increased litter is one of the first signs of deterioration in a neighborhood, a lack or care or respect for your community. In order to keep our neighborhoods and city vital we need to:

1) Increase homeownership. By being a homeowner, you are investing in your neighborhood and taking pride in owning your own home.

2) Encourage citizens to participate in C.O.P. (Citizens’ On Patrol – link: http://www.cincinnati-oh.gov/police/pages/-9496-/) program. These volunteers are trained to record any blighted properties and turn them into the city departments for follow-up and corrective action.

3) Continue to fine property owner’s which have litter violations.

4) Participate in Saturday’s, October 20th Make a Difference Day with Keep Cincinnati Beautiful – link: http://www.keepcincinnatibeautiful.org/Home/index.html

5) Please contact our office, 352-3640, with any litter issues…we have helped thousands of citizens throughout the city cut through the red tape at city hall and get issues resolved.
