Reds just lost the opener. I'm inclined to agree with Paul Daugherty's blog -- Opening Day is largely a pageant. A good way to look at it when the final score is 4-2 in favor of the other guys.
Some may feel, like Paul Daugherty, that The Reds Opening Day is more a pageant than anything.
While the Reds used to open the season by playing the very first game, now that has been lost to opening day even in Japan between the Red Sox and the Athletics.
All the hoopla here is simply of a local nature. The national spotlight is gone. Griffey Jr. will have his 600th home run by the end of April to national acclaim, especially with no hint of steroids used by him.
As for the game, the Reds line-up looked strong enough but only managed 3 hits. That's lame even though it's only one game but, unfortunately, it still counts. And Harang's fast ball helped the Nationals nail 4 home runs to ruin the Reds soggy opener. The shape of things to come? We'll have to wait and see.
