Monzel’s Response - Residency Restrictions
The City of Cincinnati has become a hub for sexual predators (the most per capita than any city in Ohio). At the same time, communities surrounding Cincinnati have increased residency restrictions. We need a regional answer to this problem.
First, we need the State of Ohio to better classify sexual predators and to have tougher sentencing for those who commit crimes against children and those who are repeat offenders.
Second, we need a fair and balanced approach to how sex offenders are placed after they are released from prison. Currently, there are only 3 State of Ohio half-way houses for sex offenders…2 of these 3 facilities are located in Southwest Ohio…one of which is located in the City of Cincinnati.
Therefore, I am not willing to repeal this and I will continue to protect children any way I can.
