Who should be the next KY guv?

The editorial board is circling around an endorsement decision in the May 22 Republican and Democratic primaries for Kentucky governor. While politics is a contact sport everywhere, it's more like a demolition derby than an NFL game in Kentucky.

So, which candidate do you like and why?

And, just so you know, I've been asked to join The Enquirer editorial board from my vantage point as the g.m. for The Kentucky Enquirer and NKY.com. That won't keep me from commenting about other subjects from time to time. First of all, I won't be able to help myself. Secondly, I think we have to try to hang together as a successful region. Everyone has a stake in Cincinnati surviving and thriving, and that includes people in Alexandria, Independence, Mason and West Chester.

But that's a subject for another day.

Jonathan Miller has my support. His focus on issues like college affordability, controlling healthcare costs, mountaintop removal, and tax reform show that he understands what Kentucky needs.

But he also understands that Kentucky desperately needs open, transparent government in Frankfort. Jonathan Miller's commitment to voluntarily disclose his campaign finance report 60 and 90 days before the election speaks volumes about his character.

That's why I will be voting for Jonathan Miller on May 22.

Gatewood Galbraith should get the nod as Kentucky's next Democratic contender. The best thing about Mr. Galbraith is that he isn't really even a Democrat, and he certainly isn't a Republican. When it comes to state politics, we need someone who can think outside of the two party box. Mr. Galbraith has illustrated, by both his opinions and deeds, that he is the one candidate in the race who is capable of putting politics aside in favor of independent, rational thinking. He's whats best for Kentucky, and in both the primary and in the general election, he already has my vote.
